After graduating as an Industrial Engineer and working a couple of years, I decided to go back to my real passion: ART!. I started by painting in different mediums and experimenting with different materials.
By researching in books, I started making mosaics in the summer of 2009. I took my first formal class at the end of the same year. In 2011 I participated in an Intensive Workshop in the School of Mosaics in Ravenna, Italy, followed by several workshops with renown mosaic artists.
Almost all my work reflects my Mexican heritage, from the mix of colors to the meaningful representation of the Day of the Dead and the sugar skulls.
My art is influenced by experiences in life, the desire to transmit my feelings, my ideas, my most profound thoughts, my own self.
Mosaic is my medium of choice because I find it to be the most challenging art form. It allows me to create a whole from an endless number of fragments, combining each fragment with an array of materials through an intuitive and imaginative journey.
Mosaics take me into a constant search for balance and harmony between materials and thoughts, colors and feelings in order to awake the senses of the observer.
As a mosaic artist I try to evolve and grow in my artistic expression trying to bring my mosaics into the fine art realm.
